This guide will inform the reader about the best way to wear Peridot
Blue Sapphires

These rich and eye-catching stones derived from the very same mineral as rubies, Corundum. These minerals are usually colorless, but when rich in Iron, they develop a shade of blue. These stones symbolize truth, sympathy, loyalty, faithfulness and friendship. Blue Sapphires that come from different regions have slightly different colors. Any buyer should be well informed about where a stone originates and how this can impact the stone.

Kashmir sapphires have a violet blue to purplish blue color, sometimes referred to as cornflower blue. Kashmir is widely considered to be the finest quality sapphires. Bumese sapphires have a slightly violet-blue to blue color, which is commonly referred to as Royal Blue. This sapphire can be more saturated than the Kashmir sapphires. Ceylon and Sri Lankan sapphires have a violetish-blue to blue color with a slightly grayish to strong saturation. Pailin and Cambodian sapphires have a violet-blue to slightly green-blue color, with a medium to dark tone. Kanchanaburi sapphires have a blue to slightly green-blue color with a grayish and milky appearance. Thai sapphires are known to have a very dark blue, almost black color. Australian sapphires have a dark blue color similar to Thai sapphires but what makes the Australian sapphires so unique and desirable is the strong green-blue pleochroism, which makes the stone appear greenish at different angles.

It is clear that there are a wide variety of blue sapphires and it is highly recommended to learn about the source of a stone before purchasing it.
