Introduction

Vacuuming

Vacuum your rug once a week. Take special care not to vacuum fringe (if applicable). Regular vacuuming helps avoid moth problems and removes dirt and dust. Loose dirt embedded in the pile of a rug grinds the fibers creating unnecessary, premmature wear. It is also helpful to occasionally vacuum the back of your rug to remove particles that may have settled into the backing. Note, it is normal when vacuuming a new rug for the rug to shed slightly.

Spills and Stains

Address stains and spills immediately. Use a damp paper towel to blot problem area. Do not drag or rub the stain. For dark liquids such as coffee, wine, or coke, seltzer or club soda can be used as a spot cleaner. Do not leave the rug wet as mildew can cause the rug to rot.

Sunlight and Fading

Excessive sunlight can cause rugs to fade. Try to keep your rug out of direct sunlight. Rotating your rug 180 degrees every 6-12 months will help keep wear and fading even.

Professional Cleaning

The deepest clean can only be achieved through a professional off site cleaning service. Please consider having your rug professional cleaned every few years.
